Mr. Rod Bushey, M. M. Ed.
Director of
Choirs

In the fall of 1972, Rod Bushey began teaching choral
music at Howell High School.
Since that time, the choir has grown to be the
largest single program in the school.
Held in such high esteem for his educational
contributions, Howell Public Schools’ honored Mr.
Bushey as “Educator of the Year” in 1999.
Mr. Bushey holds a B.A. in Music Education from
Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois, and
a Masters in Music Education from Michigan State
University. He
has been a member of the Michigan School Vocal Music
Association for 34 years, serves on the executive board
as treasurer, and works as an adjudicator and a
clinician for schools and churches. He has supervised and hosted Honors Choirs, and numerous Solo
and Ensemble and Choral Festivals.
Mr. Bushey is also a member of the American
Choral Directors Association, and has served on their
Board of Directors.
Mr. Bushey recently completed a six-year term as
President of the Olivet Nazarene University Alumni
Association. Married
for 35 years, Rod and his wife Cindy have two children,
both married, along with three grandchildren and a set
of twins expected in March of ’07.
